Winchester Augmented Reality Team
Tuesday, February 117:00—8:30 PMLarge Meeting RoomWinchester Public Library80 Washington St, Winchester, MA, 01890
Sharing meeting to talk about goals and project plans for 2025 for local artists to use AR. Demonstrations as needed if you have not already seen the Augmented Reality installations around Winchester.
Let's share ideas on what local artists think about extending their art into AR for 2025. If you have an idea you wish to explore and work on, please send a note to hello@wart.win and we can work out how realistic it is with available options.
Using AR as an alternative way to present information; for example, a tour of local sites with historical significance can reveal bits of history that are right here in town. The conversation is not limited to artists and is available to anyone who sees an opportunity to explore sharing their information using AR to present it via images, video, green screen video, portals (360 view) - image and video, attached or standalone soundtracks.
For an example, see the accompanying photo of a couple of stone statues scanned from the MFA's Egyptian collection inserted into the Library lobby, and a video screen capture walking around the 3d scanned object. These statues were scanned with the poly.cam app and inserted into the Library lobby. You can “walk” around the scanned object in the Hoverlay app. Install the app for free from the App Store or Google Play.
See WART's website for more information and examples of recent spaces created in AR and updates on current happenings in AR. If you wish to post your own newly created spaces send a note with a link to your space to hello@wart.win.
