VIRTUAL: Recycled Art Night: Weaving

Thursday, August 207:00—8:00 PMVirtualWinchester Public Library80 Washington St, Winchester, MA, 01890

Part demonstration and part do-it-yourself time, Recycled Art Night encourages teens to use materials that might otherwise have been thrown out (or hopefully recycled) in order to create works of art. Using what you have around you can inspire you in ways you might not have expected.

In this session we'll be learning how to create a loom out of cardboard and how to use it to start a piece of woven art using strings, ribbons, yarns, and pieces of fabric from old clothes.  Amanda will demonstrate how to make these items and you can follow along at home or just watch and learn, then there will be time for working on our projects together.

If you'd like to work at home, we suggest you bring a piece of sturdy cardboard of any size (larger pieces will create larger weavings but they also become unwieldy so we suggest trying to keep the size smaller and more manageable), scissors, yarn or string, and any other fabric or fibers you might want to include.

This program will be held on Zoom. An email with login information will be sent on the day of the program.

This program is for students in (rising) 6th-12th grades.

Registration for this event has now closed.
