Teen Volunteering: Letters Against Isolation

Monday, March 254:00—5:00 PMSmall Meeting RoomWinchester Public Library80 Washington St, Winchester, MA, 01890

Teens, are you looking for volunteer hours? The organization Letters Against Isolation's goal is to fight senior loneliness through handwritten messages of love, hope, and joy.

From their website:

We welcome students who wish to earn community service hours by sending handwritten letters to our seniors. We offer one service hour for every four letters written/sent. Please carefully read these detailed guidelines then complete this short questionnaire. You will be asked to provide a sample of your work and will be assigned a community service liaison who will be your contact person and will verify your efforts. Kindly note that we are all volunteers - LAI has no office or staff. You must allow 2 business days for a response, so plan accordingly!

For this program the library will be providing a dedicated time and space to work on your letters, as well as supplies to write and decorate, stamps for mailing, and snacks to keep you fortified. Please note that you need to sign up with Letters Against Isolation and submit your own work to them in order to get credit for your volunteer hours - the library won't be certifying your work, but we'll help you get your letters written.

Grades 6-12 only. No adults. Please register so we know how many snacks to buy.

This program is supported by the Friends of the Winchester Public Library.

Registration for this event has now closed.
