About Refugee: Three young people are looking for refuge, a place for themselves and their families to live in peace. Each story is separated by decades in time, by oceans, and geography: Josef in 1930s Nazi Germany, Isabel in 1990s Cuba, and Mahmoud in present-day Syria. Their stories share similarities to create understanding and empathy for refugees. At the end, their experiences are skillfully and surprisingly connected.
