This is a regular meeting of Coffee and Books @ the Jenks.  This month's book is The Stowaway:  A Young Man's Extraordinary Adventure to Antarctica by Laurie Gwen Shapiro.  A true story of a scrappy teenager from New York's Lower East Side who stowed away on an expedition to Antarctica in 1928.  The night before the expedition set off, Billy Gawronsky jumped into the Hudson River and snuck aboard.  The Stowaway takes you on the unforgettable voyage of a plucky young stowaway who became a jazz age celebrity, a mascot for an up-by-your bootstraps era.

Copies of the book are available about a month before the meeting at the Information Services Desk of the Winchester Public Library.  No long term commitment is necessary for the book group, come when you can, we would love to meet you.
